Минская область

Minsk region is situated in the centre of the Republic of Belarus and has 22 areas. The centre of the region is Minsk – the capital of Belarus. The relief of the region is various: heights alternate with plains and lowlands. Forests occupy 36% of the territory, bogs – 14%. Natural places of interest of Minsk region are the largest lake of the republic – the Naroch which charms with its beauty and wildlife preserve “the Blue Lakes”. One of the oldest Pushcha “Nalibokskaya” is situated in Minsk region which occupies the main part of Berezinski biosphere reserve in the northeast, where the preservation of typical and unique natural-landscape complexes is carried out.

Minsk – the capital of the Republic of Belarus – is a modern compact European city with rather good ecological situation today. The corners of the old city were saved there.

Ancient Zaslavl with state historical and cultural reserve is situated in this region. The region is also famous for Nesvizh with its outstanding Nesvizh Castle, Farn catholic church with the burial-vault of the princes Radzivily, the printing-house with the monument to Symon Budny and other attractions. Borisov acquaints us with the events of 1812 – through the Berezina passed a famousferry of Napoleon’s army. The ethnographic complex "Dudutki" lures many tourists. Minsk region is the homeland of national literary classic authors such as Yanka Kupala (Yanka Kupala’s memorial complex in Vyazynka), Yakub Kolas, Maxim Bogdanovich.
